چکیده

In this paper, we propose an NLOS source localization method that utilizes the robust statistics, namely, the α-trimmed mean and Hodges–Lehmann estimator. The root mean squared error average of the proposed methods is similar to that of the other estimators such as M-estimator and Taylor-series maximum likelihood estimator using the median, but the proposed robust estimators have advantages that they have the closed-form solution. The simulation results show that the root mean squared error performance of the proposed methods is similar or outperforms that of the iteration-based M-estimator. The Taylor-series maximum likelihood estimator based on the sample median is most superior among the investigated localization methods, but it has the disadvantages that the computational complexity is high and that the solution may converge to the local maxima. Also, it is shown that the performances of the closed-form proposed estimators outperform the JMAP-ML and LS estimator in the above of certain NLOS noise level. & 2014 Elsevier B.V. Determination of mobile localization with time of arrival (TOA) signal is a requirement in cellular mobile communication. In some of the previous methods, localization with non-line-of-sight (NLOS) paths can lead to large position error. Also for simplicity, in most simulations suppose non stationary actual environments as stationary. This paper proposes (residual test + recursive least square)...

Effects of Moving Landmark’s Speed on Multi-Robot Simultaneous Localization and Mapping in Dynamic Environments

Even when simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) solutions have been broadly developed, the vast majority of them relate to a single robot performing measurements in static environments. Researches show that the performance of SLAM algorithms deteriorates under dynamic environments. In this paper, a multi-robot simultaneous localization and mapping (MR-SLAM) system is implemented within a...

Cooperative localization using angle of arrival measurements: sequential algorithms and non-line-of-sight suppression

We investigate localization of a source based on angle of arrival (AoA) measurements made at a geographically dispersed network of cooperating receivers. The goal is to efficiently compute accurate estimates despite outliers in the AoA measurements due to multipath reflections in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments. Maximal likelihood (ML) location estimation in such a setting requires exhaus...

TOA localization for multipath and NLOS environment with virtual stations

An effective geometrical method which can locate a source based on the time-of-arrival (TOA) measurements and the floor plan information is proposed in simple non-line-of-sight (NLOS) indoor environment where the multiplebound scattering signal paths can be ignored. The novelty of our work resides in converting the NLOS problem into line-of-sight (LOS) problem based on the virtual stations (VSs...

NLOS mitigation in indoor localization by marginalized Monte Carlo Gaussian smoothing

One of the main challenges in indoor time-of-arrival (TOA)-based wireless localization systems is to mitigate non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation conditions, which degrade the overall positioning performance. The positive skewed non-Gaussian nature of TOA observations under LOS/NLOS conditions can be modeled as a heavy-tailed skew t-distributed measurement noise. The main goal of this article ...
